As one of the most significant cultural developments of the 20th century, film and cinema play a key part in today’s society. In 2026, the Museum of Bath at Work introduces a special exhibition that celebrates all things cinema.
The Museum of Bath at Work opened the floor to hear about existing cinema stories and memories to be used as part of this brand-new exhibition. In the exhibition, you’ll discover the timeline history of cinemas in Bath and the surrounding areas, as well as hear about the people who worked there, from projectionists and usherettes to managers.

What is the Museum of Bath at Work?
The Museum of Bath at Work is a history museum based that celebrates 2000 years of working life in Bath. They showcase exciting exhibitions, featuring items, memorabilia and more that encourage audiences to discover the history of people who made Bath.
The Forum Cinema
Featured as part of the Lights, Camera, Action! Exhibition, The Forum holds a huge amount of history.
The Forum was Bath’s first ‘super cinema’, which opened on 19 May 1934 and was one of the last of its kind to be built. The art deco cinema, designated as a Grade II* listed building, has since been used as a bingo hall, dance hall and now welcomes top music and entertainment acts from across the globe.

The 120 Years of Cinemas and Films in Bath exhibition is open every day (10:30AM – 5:00PM) from 9 May until 31 Oct and on weekends in Nov. Entry to the exhibition is included when you buy your museum admission ticket.
